FOR FORMER PRESIDENT JAMES EARL “JIMMY” CARTER JR.

WE CONGRATULATE YOU ON BEING THE FIRST EVER UNITED STATES PRESIDENT TO LIVE FOR AN ENTIRE CENTURY, AND MAY YOU, YOUR WIFE ROSALYNN, AND ALL YOUR OTHER DECEASED FAMILY MEMBERS ETERNALLY REST IN PEACE.
You might have read my “A Spot for the Community” post about The Community Space in my town of Whitewater, which offers stuff like food, clothing, and household items for people simply in need of them. Still, for those of you who haven’t (or would at least like to read it again), this is the link for it: https://gilbertdennis.com/a-spot-for-the-community/.
Yet, of course, that place is not the ONLY thing in Whitewater that provides what poor people need! And I will be happy to describe other spots in my town which help the poor out throughout this post!
I’ll start off with the Whitewater Community Food Pantry, which is located in an old building which used to be an armory.

This service gives free food to low-income individuals and families whom are part of Whitewater’s school district. Say, I am sure YOUR own school district has had a program similar to this one. Maybe you participated in it?
Anyway, next there’s the Bethel House.

The Bethel House is the kind of organization which provides housing for homeless families.
Wanna know two other assistance services in my community related to housing? First there is the Walworth County Housing Authority (as the county that most of Whitewater is in is simply named Walworth). The group not only manages rental assistance programs, but also has projects for constructing permanent houses, including those who are disabled.

And let’s not forget the city district’s Housing Loan Program, which provides zero percent interest loans for eligible households to do home repairs!
I am not finished just yet, either. The United Way of Jefferson & North Walworth Counties (no offense, what the rest of Whitewater is in is Jefferson County) collaborates with local partner agencies within that area. The organization is a great place to get financial stability, heath, and education goals supported!

On top of that, there’s the Whitewater Community Foundation, which is yet another group having to do with healthcare, housing, and, you guessed it, chow. The WCF funds organizations which are non-profit that assist these three human services, and others.

Moreover, if you believe there is no search tool which lists various local programs in a town like this one, just think again! The website FindHelp.org will do just that for not only programs involving food and housing, but more programs like a transportation one.

Lastly, speaking of transportation, Whitewater even has an organization called Ride United, which can get people to locations such as food pantries and clinics in nearby towns!

Though, you do not HAVE to be poor to hitch a ride with this program, of course.
Well, now that I went through all this which Whitewater has for helping specific people out, perhaps you will realize that your OWN community might actually have more to give to your poor than you’ve imagined, at least a bit, if you are not aware of that already.
Either way, as always…
