First of all, today is the 70th anniversary of the final Milwaukee Road passenger train stop in Whitewater. Coincidentally, this post will also consider a particular spot which has been constructed near there not the long ago…

If you have ever come across an open-air venue that is used for performances, entertainment, or sports, then you have come across an amphitheater.

You might have seen an amphitheater like the one shown below, at least in a photograph on the internet or in a book…

Well, THOSE types of Amphitheater were constructed by ancient Romans. They are oval-shaped and have seating all around their edges. And while that types are still being used today, amphitheaters from nowadays are circular, or semicircular or curved, and have THEIR seats just on one side of them (the performing area is in front of all that, in the center) as the one shown below. Have you ever been to an event at a place like that, as well?

Now, you just might spot a smaller modern amphitheater in one of those smaller, everyday communities, yet the can be rare, due to amphitheaters simply being in larger communities or cities, you see…although, one HAS actually been constructed in MY community recently.

And, yes, this is what has been recently constructed by the old train depot. The project for it began in the midst of 2019, and it was made possible by Frawley Family (whom it is named after), and Whitewater Rotary, as well as the Whitewater Fourth of July Committee. It got constructed for slightly over a year, prior to opening in September 2020.

The Frawley Family Amphitheater is also located in Cravath Lakefront Park (which is also named after one of the lakes by it, which I considered along with the other one posts earlier, and is still in its draining process…). So, it is by a rail line with an old depot museum AND a lake. Interesting, hmm?

Now, there are no official seats in front of the theater (since some smaller amphitheaters can be like that). Though there are a few benches in front of it, and of course, you can bring a folding chair on a blanket along with you as well. Also, it being a modern amphitheater, it does not actually host sports either (since only the ancient Roman ones do), but it is still great for music shows, film screens, and other specific community events.

And finally, the Frawley Family Amphitheater as it appears at Cravath Lakefront Park today…

Say, if an amphitheater is ever coming to YOUR community, then good for you! But, as I said above, amphitheaters in smaller communities can be rarer, so one might not be. So, if one does not, my advice…just simply be glad with your community how it is. Or, you could still head to amphitheater that is NEAR your community every now and then if there is one.

Though, yet, that does not mean you can still head out to an amphitheater that is rather further off, at least a few or several times in your life, depending on where or what that amphitheater is…
